"Moment of Love" Styled Shoot by Ambient Rentals

On the eastside of Oahu, in a small town of Kahalu’u resides Kahalu’u Gallery and Gardens, a lovely venue facing the grand Ko’olau Mountains. It was a new location for us, as it stood in a residential neighborhood and is quite hidden from the public. But nonetheless, when you find it, you’re greeted with a peaceful garden and pacific fusion art - with paintings, photos and sculptures.

Our friends of Ambient Rentals connected with us for their Styled Shoot “Moment of Love.” Their shoot was inspired somewhat by the film Eat Pray Love. We knew going into their shoot that it would involve creative styles, vendors and sets because of the incredible rentals they provide, making it hard to say no to the opportunity. They gave us the creative freedom to capture their styled shoot however we’d like, and that was enough motivation for us.

As we landed on location, we were taken back by the earthy tones of the garden. The front yard had a massive grass space with an outdoor patio. The backyard had a miniature rocky waterfall, an outdoor patio surrounded by green trees and a large grassy space. Ambient Rentals and their partnered vendors designed three different sets throughout the property, two focusing on wedding ceremonies and one highlighting a reception.

We were lucky to work with the same couple the entire shoot, Juan Velazquez + Leah van Lieshout, and it just so happens that they’re a real-life couple too! We also worked with an honorary Officiant, Gabe Griebenow, who could pass as another groom. And last but not least, Bae’a The Corgi, who made our images just darn cute with her floral collar.
